KUALA LUMPUR: Health Ministry enforcement officers raided a beauty salon in Jalan Ampang here yesterday, a day after a mother of three died during follow-up treatment of a liposuction procedure.
Noraini Mohd Ghazali, a 30-year-old company manager, died on Tuesday at the beauty salon. She is believed to have suffered an allergic reaction to an anaesthetic shot.Officers from the ministry's pharmacy enforcement division raided the outlet at 4pm and took away 15 bottles of liquid substance which had not been registered with the ministry.
"A cosmetic surgeon in his 50s was questioned about the various treatments offered at the beauty salon. The three-storey clinic included a spa on the top floor," an enforcement officer said.
Officers also interviewed the clinic assistant and seized Noraini's file.Noraini had liposuction several months ago and returned to the clinic on Tuesday after complaining of pain in the buttocks.She was accompanied by her sister, Misha Abu Bakar.Three hours later, Misha, who was in the reception area on the ground floor, was told by the surgeon that Noraini was dead.
"The doctor claimed that Norani had vomited three times before swallowing her own vomit on the fourth time.
"He said this happened after she had been injected with anaesthetic.
"The doctor claimed that he tried to resuscitate Noraini for about 45 minutes," Misha said.
Misha contacted Noraini's husband, Zaharuddin Zainuddin, 35, who lodged a report at the Ampang Jaya police station.The couple have three children Puteri Nur Shamimi Ameza, 11, Mohd Akmal Sharmiza, 9, and Mohd Abid Danish Nasmine, 3.Noraini's body was taken to her hometown in Kampung Tok Uban in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, for burial yesterday after a post-mortem was conducted at the Kuala Lumpur Medical Centre.Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Jalil Hassan said the case had been classified as sudden death and police were waiting for test results from the Chemistry Department.

this shows that liposuction can cause death.people are choosing liposuction because they want to loose weight fast. they expect for fast result. liposuction is safe if the surgeon do it in a proper way of course.
